I’m Niels Mäkel, and I author makel.org. Programming, writing and developing for the web takes up most of my time. I live in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
I contribute to IT Conversations as a member of the world-wide editorial staff. I also do freelance PHP programming and standards-based CSS/XHTML web development. I’m always interested in job opportunities or other projects.

A Note About the Type
Text on makel.org is set in Lucida Grande. Code spans are set in Monaco. In case your computer lacks these fonts — which means you’re not using Mac OS X — they will be substituted by your system’s native sans-serif and monospace fonts. That’s a shame.
All text is parsed and properly punctuated by Class Markdown and Class Typographer.
